I like Elizabeth Warren

I just read jamess' (jamess's) diary, and watched her speech. There's something about the woman. She's passionate, she is real, she is articulate. She explaings things really well, even relatively complex things. She doesn't grandstand, and she doesn't pander.

The last time I saw Hilary Clinton (on Jon Stewart), I was appalled. She has always been calculating (and I don't blame her...she had to survive a lot). But you can see her doing it. Her laugh is fake. Even her guffaw seems over-rehearsed (you can just see her in a room with some PR person, "put more belly into it!"). Sometimes when I'm watching a movie, I can see the storyboard behind the action...it ruins the movie for me. There is an explosion and as the cop buddies escape barely ahead of the flames I see the same scene cartooned in black and white and a big "kapow" in comic sans serif behind them. When the spontaneity has been so relentlessly focus grouped out of existence that even the author of the artwork is so obviously bored, we're not even in Andy Warhol territory any more.

Whenever I see Elizabeth Warren, however, I'm impressed by how fresh she is. How likable and how convincing. How real.

This last time, reading jamess's'ss diary, I even wondered if who she is wouldn't appeal to the type of Southern male populists who voted for Ann Richards. Go ahead and review Ann Richards 1988 keynote . Or, even more briefly (and hilariously), Richards'spot for the Alamo Drafthouse. That woman could kick rear end. She was the epitome of the feisty little woman who could raise a couple of kids, take care of the farm, and hold off outlaws with her shotgun...all at the same time. She reminds me of Elizabeth Warren (she did not remind me of Wendy Davis...I sent money to Wendy Davis, but I knew she didn't have a chance; she was too much of a milquetoast).

But Elizabeth Warren, now...she is really something. She's like that fifth grade teacher you had who terrified you, but you loved at the same time. I think she could get votes in Texas, I really do. I think she could surprise people.
