On the Ground in Austin, Texas

I live about 10 minutes from downtown Austin. In the past three days, I've had one live Obama volunteer come to my door. I've had two live people call me and urge me to vote for Obama. I've had zero warm-blooded Clinton contacts. In the past three weeks, I've had two robot calls from Chelsea and one robot call from Michelle Obama. The robot calls are annoying and make we want to not vote against whomever it is they're calling about. The live persons for Obama have all been very sweet and kind of breathless and cute and have been calling from other states. They start out being annoying but by the end of my conversations with them, I feel kindly towards them. They usually want to talk even after I tell them I already early voted. I could be getting so much Obama contact because I signed up to get a ticket to go to his Spring '07 rally in Austin, but I usually lie about my phone numbers on things like that, so I suspect that they're just cold-calling democrats. If so, it's impressive. I'm for Obama but not overly partisan. I really only care about the Supreme Court for the next four (eight?) years, and so I'm reserving my money and time to support who ever wins the nomination and I'll work/donate in the general. But I have to say I'm impressed by Obama's ground operation.
